On 5, 6 and 7 September, the standard annual population census of Montecristo goats was carried out. Expert National Park operators from the Province of Grosseto and the Provincial Police Force of Livorno and Pisa perform the count, using pre-established points and routes. Supported by local Italian police, this census is essential for monitoring changes in the population structure. The data collected is currently under analysis and will provide an estimate of the minimum numbers of types of goat on the island.
