Island Invasive Conference 2017, Dundee (UK)

In Dundee (UK), experts from around the world are comparing notes on the theme of alien species in island systems. Topics discussed by researchers include the negative impact of biological invasions on endangered species, ways to counter the spread of animals and plants with high invasive potential and the application of bio-safety measures. The eradication of the Black rat and other non-native species from Isola di Pianosa, currently underway in the Tuscan archipelago under the RESTO CON LIFE project, now faces the largest original species community restoration project in the Mediterranean: the elimination of the Black rat from the island of Montecristo.
